Why wont these old VCR videos play in the new VCR player?

Our old dvd/vcr player died, so we got a new one. The videos played fine in the old one, but now they won%26#39;t play in the new one. Well, it might play for a while, but all of a sudden it goes black and then starts to rewind. I can%26#39;t even forward passed that point . . . it%26#39;s as if it doesn%26#39;t like it! Ugh - we have tons of old children%26#39;s videos that my child loves . . . it would majorly suck if they all can%26#39;t be played (we haven%26#39;t tested them yet). We%26#39;re just trying to avoid having to get DVD replacements (too much $$$!). Thanks in advance!!

Answer:

Take the VCR back to where you bought it and get a replacement. Sounds like there is a problem with the machine.
