Why do my AM radio stations tend to fade out and get poor reception more during the evening/night ti

Every night when I drive home, and try to listen to some of The Dennis Miller Radio show or Neal Boortz, in the late afternoon to evening, the stations never come in as good as they do in the mornings. Wonder why that is? And its only in my wifes car witch apparently doesnt have nearly as good of an antenna as my MAN VAN has. Any ideas?

Answer:

They piggyback off of the frequencies of FM stations, with the FM stations signing off on the evenings, their frequenices alone aren%26#39;t normally strong enough to keep them up alone.
