Why do pictures from the free view box pixalate during transmission on certain t.v.channel. Can it b

Answer:

It%26#39;s technically very involved, but here%26#39;s my take on it. The reason for "going Digital" is not to improve on picture quality- but to increase quantity. You can%26#39;t have 500 analogue channels. You just can%26#39;t. The computer inside the freeview (or sky-digi or cable-digi) box takes a digital signal and builds it up into a picture on your TV. If the signal is poor, it takes a best-guess approach to fill in the blanks. If it%26#39;s lucky, and you%26#39;re watching golf, it%26#39;ll fill the sky with blue, and the grass with green, and you%26#39;ll never notice. However, if you%26#39;re watching something with a vast amount of changing information- eg. the crowd at a soccer match, as the camera pans across the pitch, these best-guesses appear as blocks or pixels of colour, and can be very distracting. Try adjusting the picture-softness on your TV. If the signal is very poor indeed, you won%26#39;t just get pixellation, you%26#39;ll have freezing pictures- the box just sits there replaying the last picture it saw, over and over again until it gets new information. If this is less than half a second, say, you%26#39;ll probably not notice it. It%26#39;s more noticeable when Hercule Poirot is just about to announce "Whodunnit" or Manchester United are lining up to score a goal, and some people find this a teensy bit frustrating. Check your connections, check your aerial hasn%26#39;t blown off the roof, check with your neighbours to see what kind of reception they get (that%26#39;s my community relations bit out of the way!), and Yes, some channels are worse than others. Also you can%26#39;t expect BBC2 documentary-type quality from an outdoor broadcast at Brands Hatch when the camera%26#39;s strapped to the front of a formula-one car doing two hundred miles per hour. Unless you%26#39;re house-bound for some reason (in which case you have my sympathy) and you find yourself watching TV more than about twenty hours a week, get out more, try riding a bike, or flying kites. Cheap and fun. Hope this helps. I thought we went digital so we could all have a better picture. It%26#39;s down to the signal or your ariel rather than the box, not a lot you can do if you%26#39;ve got a decent ariel. Check all your connections are good too. Weak signal. Some channels are weaker than others.

Try a power booster, for your TV signal. Simple to install. You should be able to pick them up, for less than 20 pound, from argos or an electrical shop...
