Why is it wrong to copy a dvd if you just need a back up after all if you just paid for one and you

Answer:

Cause some DVD has DRM protected.

If you want to copy DVD, you may try Aimersoft DVD Ripper, this software can copy DVD to computer in 1:1 lossless quality, it also can rip DVD to iPod, iPhone, Zune, PSP and other mobile devices. I always use it to backup my favorite DVD movie on computer, very easy to use and works perfect for me, here is the download link, hope it helps.

http://www.aimersoft.com/dvd-ripper.html... You cant copy copyrighted material. If you do that you may by be forced to pay a lot of money if you break the copyright rule. This is an issue of much debate. You are perfectly within your rights to copy a DVD that you have legitimately bought for personal use, such as a backup in case you scratch the original disc. (Though many of the film companies are trying to criminalise this) The problem comes when you make a copy to give/loan/sell to a friend. This is considered illegal. Legal jargon aside the act of the copying is not illegal. The illegal part is circumventing the copyright protection on the original disk. Thanks Digital Millennium Copyright Act!

My personal belief says that if it%26#39;s for your own personal backup use: Go for it! But the law has a different opinion. Because the big film companies and DVD distributors are convinced that you are then going to give or sell that onto a friend. By all means copy it for yourself (especially for when the discs get scratched!). It gets serious when you make money from selling or loaning DVDs for profit, because that IS illegal!! in the copyright dept eyes its wrong to copy a dvd, perhaps if the companies involved used %26#39;%26#39;scratchproof%26#39;%26#39; dvd discs, and charged a little more...
