Why is it when i turn on my laptop the house radio goes static?

The radio is the alarm clock. I use it in the room when it gets to be too quiet

but anywho.why does the radio get static when I turn on my laptop?

I was hoping to listen to the local radio station.

Answer:

All sound and image producing gadgets (laptops, video game consoles, etc.) emit a radio frequency. That is why you will find a sticker on the bottom of your laptop indicating that it complies with FCC regulations. The makers of your laptop must not allow the frequency emission to exceed a specific level in order to avoid radio interference with your neighbors%26#39; gadgets. It just so happens that your laptop is close enough to your radio that it is within the FCC allowable interference range. I%26#39;m guessing you were listening to AM radio. This band is easily affected by other devices. You might try listening to FM stations - the interference should not be as bad as on AM stations. Sometimes, just moving the radio a foot or two one way or the other will fix the problem.

Good luck and I hope this clears things up. There are several reasons that can cause radio static. One could be that your laptop has a built in wifi. WiFi transmits radio signals and your radio might be picking up the signals. Another possible cause could be your laptop%26#39;s power adapter, the electronic parts inside can emit radio signals too.

Try using another radio and see if it will pick up the static. Some radios are less / more sensitive than others.
