Why does my computer desk shock me when my foots on the floor?

my computer cpu my monitor are all on my computer desk. when i have my foot on the floor I will feel a slight tingle in my hand on the mouse almost like needles pricking me. If I put my legs up in the chair and my wife touches me it will give us both a shock. what do I need to move or do? I have a wireless mouse and keyboard if that makes a diffrence.

Answer:

Is the desk sitting on carpet? It sounds like there could be a static charge going on also. If so you might try a plastic runner underneath your chair. If your house is dry and you are rolling across the floor this static could cause you to short out your PC. Try a rollerball mouse to see if it still happens. There could be another cause of the problem either inside the computer or something that plugged into it. Are you by any chance using a battery backup system in case you lose power to your computer? I have seen when these start to go bad strange things start happening to the PC. If you are using one try disconnecting it from the wall and the PC and see if it still happens. Is part of your desk metal? It sounds like something isn%26#39;t grounded right or you could have a power supply problem. If you have someone who knows about computers on an extensive level ask them to take a look at it or take it in to a computer repair shop. Wear some insulation on your feel til then, rubber shower shoes, flip flops or slippahs as we call them in hawaii. Get it checked asap as it could be more serious next time! does it happen when you are touching anything other than your mouse? if not, consider getting a different mouse.

what kind of material is the chair made of? if it is rubber, or something that doesn%26#39;t conduct electricity, it may make a difference.

check if there are any loose cords anywhere. its usually for say like ur desk have metal legs and soundwaves and the noises you hear from your computer make vibration through the floor
