They sell the sat dishes cause direct TV leaves them when you cancel service. But no you can not get free TV from it. If you buy a receiver, you can get free tv if you can get a hold of a smart card. There really expensive and randomly direct tv sends out a signal that fries them... So that route is pointless and expensive. no it is the property of Direct TV
