I just signed up for Dish Network and found out that I need to have one receiver hooked up to a phone line so I can use the two receivers independently.
I%26#39;m wondering if this will cause my phone to be "busy" or otherwise unusable while the receiver is plugged in.
Any help?
Answer:
This is so the satellite company can "poll" your box to find out if you%26#39;ve used pay per view, and also so they can load scheduling information into your box. The process is done in very short burst of data and usually in the wee hours of the morning. it will block your line, but just for a few moments a day. Probably not the receiver calls home when you are ordering a pay per view program but it does not stay connected all the time. Just as you are ordering the program. You probably would not be to order programs while you are talking. No. It will sense it the line is in use. You might hear a click on the line, but it backs off and tries again later.
