This hasn%26#39;t happened very much to me, but there have been a couple times (and at least once with a friend of mine), where a brand new DVD (fresh from an unopened case) had problems with playback (ex. the image totally froze, or there were visual problems with playback). This happened in more than 1 DVD player with the same disk, and even after the disk and player were cleaned. Also, there were no visible scratches on the disk.
Can you shed any light on why this might be happening, and if there are any solutions to the problem other than exchanging it at the store. Thank you.
P.S. Is the above problem a common occurance or a rarity?
Answer:
The DVD is defective. Return it where you bought it. DVDs aren%26#39;t defective that often, but it happens. Since you tried it in several players, you have proven it is a glitch in the disc, not the player.
Cheers:-) Look at the bottom of the DVD and verify that there are no smudges or foreign material on the surface. Many problems come from the the packaging that sticks to the surface. Clean the surface with a soft cloth. If you need to use soap you a small amount of dish washing detergent applied to the cloth.
It the surface is completely clean then there may be a defect in the DVD itself. In that case you%26#39;ll need to return it and get a replacement.
