I got a good deal on an LG upconverter DVD player and the salesman told me that it would convert all of my DVD%26#39;s to HD like quality (1080i resolution). When I got home and put the DVD%26#39;s into the machine, I noticed that the quality was much better than my old DVD but it was in 480p resolution (component cables). It says in the manual that it can%26#39;t convert copyright materials to 1080i resoloution... so what%26#39;s the benefit if hollywood protects its DVD%26#39;s and we can%26#39;t convert it? Apparently even having a HDMI cable won%26#39;t work b/c the DVD player can%26#39;t do the job anyways due to the copyright. What%26#39;s the deal with it?
Answer:
I don%26#39;t know what the deal is but don%26#39;t expect it to change anytime soon. My recommendation if you have some time and an xbox... get the xbox modded and run XBMC... search it on the web. It will upconvert your dvd%26#39;s and has a ton.. i mean a ton of other features.
