Keep in mind Disney is behind Blue and Wal-mart backed HD
Answer:
It could go either way, but my money is on HD-DVD.
The plus with the Blu-ray is it is on the PS3, which you would think would have a big effect on this format war. But, apparently the PS3 is selling nowhere near what it was expected to and most of those who have it do not even use it for the Blu-Ray. The average owner of a HD-DVD player owns about 9 HD-DVDS. While the average owner of the Blu-Ray player (PS3 included) owns less than a single Blu-Ray.
Also, the cheapest HD-DVD player goes for around $200 if you have a XBOX 360. Otherwise you can get it for less than $400 with 5 free HD-DVDs. Right now the cheapest Blu-Ray player is around $700.
There is also the huge factor that Walmart is rumored to be in talks to purchase 2 million HD-DVD players that they will sell for less than $300. If Walmart, the biggest chain in the world, sold those 2 million players the format war would be over in a flash.
Then there is also Sony%26#39;s track record with new media. While they make good electronics, most everything the make in terms of storage fails. Take the PSP and the UMD. The UMD was supposed to be the future of portable media but it is now a joke. Many people feel like the Blu-Ray will take the same road. Disney! HD-DVD
